Cam's Field Notes
A running series of insights, updates, and articles, from my perspective, on our home of Denville — focused on transparency, education, and discussion.
Where Transparency Begins — One Post at a Time
These posts go beyond slogans — they are the medium I use to break down issues shaping Denville’s future, from my own perspective . I write each entry to share what I’m seeing, hearing, and learning as I campaign across Ward 1.
I've organized my articles into three subjects: Campaign Issues, Current Events, and Personal Stories.
Whether you're catching up or digging deeper, this is where I lay out the facts as I understand them, raise questions, share ideas, and offer solutions for how we can move forward together, as a community.
Campaign Issues
This series of articles is focused on the issues I plan to tackle if elected to Town Council.
Balancing Growth & Greenspace in Denville
Over the past few years, multiple major development projects have been approved despite a demonstrated opposition from public — and each one has chipped away at the natural environment that defines our community. I’ve spent time looking into these projects, and I want to share what I’ve found — and why it should concern all of us.
Let's Talk About Affordable Housing
Denville has a legal obligation to provide affordable housing — and I support that goal. But the way our town is handling it? Quiet approvals, rushed projects, and no communicated plan for schools, roads, or stormwater. That’s not smart growth — it’s short-sighted.
This article discusses my understanding of this complex issue, the recent projects, what’s missing, and what I’ll do differently.
Flooding
Flooding is a real and growing threat in Denville — and it’s only getting worse with every new development that adds more pavement and fewer trees.
We can’t keep pretending it’s a “once in a while” problem. As your next Council Member, I’ll fight for smarter planning, stronger infrastructure, and development that respects our watershed.

Transparency: Public Notices... Private Decisions?
If you’ve ever tried to figure out what’s going on in town — what’s being built, what’s being approved, or who’s making those decisions — you probably ran into the same problem I have: The information isn’t easy to find. And too often, by the time you hear about it, the vote has already happened. That’s not real transparency — and it’s not how a local government should work.
In this article I break down the requirements for notifications, provide anecdotes, and discuss how I would try to do things differently.

Electricity Costs
Starting June 1, Denville families will see a 20% increase in electricity bills, driven by regional energy market issues outside the town’s control.
While our local Council can’t stop these hikes, I believe we still have a responsibility to inform, support, and speak up for our residents.
Read my article on what’s behind the hike, what help is available, and what Denville might be able to do.

Preserving What Makes Denville Feel Like Home
Denville is known for its wooded hills, lake communities, and small-town charm — but that character is at risk. From the push to install towering digital billboards to development patterns that prioritize business interests over livability, we’re seeing decisions that could change the face of our town for good.
I’m running to help protect Denville’s identity — not as an anti-growth candidate, but as someone who believes growth must serve the people who already live here. That means thoughtful land use, preserving green space, and standing up to projects that undermine property values, community aesthetics, or our shared sense of place.
As your next Council Member, I’ll fight for a Denville that future generations will recognize — and be proud to call home.

Current Events Articles
This series of articles is focused on current events in town. I hope my research helps educate and encourage community discussion and participation.
The Town Council, the Firefighter's Association, & The Billboard Dilemma
Over the past few years, our town has approved multiple major development projects — and each one has chipped away at the natural environment that defines our community. I’ve spent time looking into these projects, and I want to share what I’ve found — and why it should concern all of us.

The Candidate Fighting For You - Meet Patrick Bieger
Patrick Bieger, a Ward 1 resident and new dad, is running in this year’s special election for At-Large Town Council. Like me, Patrick believes in transparency, smart planning, and putting residents first — not developers.
He founded the Facebook group Citizens Against Unnecessary Development, which has already helped rein in the Vanderhoof Ave warehouse project before they caused significant detriment to local residents. Patrick ran in 2022 and came up short, but this time, with stronger momentum and a growing movement behind him, I believe he can win — and I’m proud to support him.

Personal Articles
In this series, I share reflections on fatherhood, marriage, career, and community — not just as a candidate, but as a neighbor raising a family in Denville.

Proud of Newest Woodworking Project
I finally finished it! One of the most personal projects I’ve ever completed is this hand-carved American flag, a gift to my father-in-law for his 70th birthday — a piece made not just with tools, but with purpose. Crafted from solid wood, the flag was torched and stained to bring out its texture and character, and paired with a custom walnut pistol case designed to hold a treasured heirloom. From joinery to finish, every detail was built with care, patience, and a sense of tradition.
It isn't just a gift — it's a tribute to craftsmanship, family, and the values we pass down.
